Position Details:

Reporting to the Director of Engineering Effectiveness or Lead Dojo Coach, the Product and Team Dojo coach will work across people, process, and technology to guide teams along their continuous improvement journey.

You will work with Product Engineering team members, engineers at different level, architects, and shared services teams to coach team to better ways of working that empower each team to make better software. The Software and DevOps coach will work with a Dojo coach that has a significant experience in coaching behaviors and ways of working.

You will work with Technical Practice leads within Engineering Effectiveness and participate in a range of Communities of practice to better understand the broad product and technical roadmap of Grainger Technology Group (GTG) to understand what it will take to delivery for our customers.

You will be based in either Chicago or Lake Forest or remotely.

You Will:

  • Work with diverse teams to understand how valuable work moves to engineering teams and how teams communicate progress and impediments.
  • Lead teams to demonstrate learning behaviors, supporting each person's growth.
  • Have experience using delivery and technical data as a learning and feedback tool with teams and individuals

Engineering Organization responsibilities:

  • Build documentation and training opportunities for in-person and self-paced learning to support adoptions of new technology or ways of working.
  • Provide honest, data driven feedback to drive continual improvement both inside and outside the dojo.
  • Collaborate with multiple areas to curate an exceptional engineering experience
  • Support Communities of Practices through group facilitation, creating and presenting relevant content and creating psychological safe place to learn
  • Present externally at conferences, online and engage in industry groups to grow Grainger's technical brand and continually learn.

You Have:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in or with technology teams
  • Experience coaching technical and product people.
  • Experience applying/coaching lean, agile and DevOps principles to improve the flow of value
  • Exposure to multiple diverse technologies, engineering practices, and methods of code delivery.
  • An understanding of Cloud-relevant technologies and their impact ways of working
  • An understanding of fast feedback loops using DevOps patterns and how to integrate feedback into ways of working
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related study or equivalent project-related experience.
