The Senior Manager, Direct Mail Channel role is responsible for Direct Mail and General Catalog. They will develop channel strategies and be responsible for driving revenue over $500M. Work across the organization and cross-functionally to deliver the channel results in alignment with key marketing strategies and provide strategic direction & expertise related to channel effectiveness. Responsible for the Grainger General Catalog production. They will direct the targeting, print, paper, catalog, and fulfillment to ensure delivery of a minimum return of 3 to 1 for a spend of over $30M.They are responsible for Direct Mail channel execution against all marketing goals and metrics.

You Will:

 

  • Drive the channel strategies across Marketing and with business partners.
  • Develop and lead Direct Mails strategies across the organization to drive $500M in revenue.
  • Responsible for the Direct Mail channel, including industry expertise, driving testing to improve direct mail results, and complete understanding of all formats.
  • Direct channel campaigns that achieve defined marketing goals & objectives for direct mail.
  • Drive audience capabilities by partnering with Digital Channels, Customer Information, and CIM teams.
  • Oversee and manage budget, growth and optimization of current programs and identify and evaluate new program opportunities.
  • Collaborate across all marketing teams and business to ensure multi-channel marketing campaigns are executed effectively to create seamless customer experiences.
  • Leads the technical print production for the Grainger General Catalog including international catalogs, paper, and mail.
  • Lead & Manage a team of 10-15 channel marketing experts, responsible for acquiring and retaining customers for Grainger.
  • Manage the production of $30M in printed materials including Direct Mail, collateral, catalogs to ensure high quality at the lowest cost. 
  • Manage a budget of $25-35M.
  • Optimize (Cost & Effectiveness) the delivery of direct mail campaigns and programs to achieve defined strategic marketing goals.
  • Manage supplier relationships including print, paper, fulfillment, etc.   
  • Ensure channel expertise is shared to drive effectiveness in planning and strategic development.
  • Participates in the business case process for new opportunities in media and ensure they align to customer strategies & objectives.
  • Must keep abreast of relevant suppliers and markets including print, paper, freight and postage as there can be big swings in cost and availability.

You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising or Marketing; MBA preferred.
  • CPM Certificate preferred.
  • 10+ years in Marketing demonstrating ability to drive strategic alignment, revenue, and goals.
  • 10+ years proven ability to collaborate, communicate and influence across the organization at all levels.
  • Proven expertise with direct mail and catalog either on Client or Agency side; experience in both a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and negotiating large deals with customers or suppliers.
  • Strong experience with all forms of production including catalog, direct mail, paper, fulfillment, mailing, etc.
  • Strong technical expertise on paper production and print production for large format catalogs at quantities of 1 million or more.
  • Expertise in managing large, complex suppliers. Includes relationship with senior leadership in those organizations.
  • Proven ability working in a large, cross-functional organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentationsmust be able to articulate a point of view clearly and effectively.
  • Proven strategy formulation and ability to translate into actions and outcomes
  • Must be proficient in understanding customer buyer behaviors, tendencies, as well as all areas of Marketing channels and messaging.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Desktop Software – Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills. The incumbent must have the ability to accurately obtain, interpret, and transcribe a variety of communications and instructions.
