Position Details:

We are looking for a Sr. Product Manager to join Grainger's Customer Information Management team. The Sr. Product Manager will manage a team responsible for delivering Grainger's Identity & Access Management platform for our customers. This platform will perform centralized identity management for Grainger's customers and allow authentication and authorization in online and offline interactions.

You will contribute to the product strategy, vision, and roadmap of future products, with high degree of ownership over essential features and the customer experience. You will be work closely with engineering, design, and operations to develop and launch new aspects of a product. You will work in a matrix organization, combining a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. You will be customer-focused, creating successful products and services. You will report to the Director, Product Management.

 

You Will:

 

  • Establish and provide the Identity & Access Management platform to manage customer identities across online and offline channels
  • Plan and execute the transition from legacy customer identity management systems
  • Work with online channel product teams to modernize and standardize authentication flows
  • Determine and achieve a roadmap for identifying customers in offline channels
  • Work with partners to design self-service tools for customers to control employee onboarding, offboarding, and access
  • Establish a framework for centralized permissions management
  • Tie the "authenticated customer" to other systems of record for customer information
  • Establish a great user experience for online Guests (anonymous users who haven't authenticated)
  • Create step-up authentication options (2FA, MFA) for those customer organizations that mandate it for their employees
  • Build relationships and identify your partners across the organization
  • Explain customer needs, conduct ongoing customer research, use internal knowledge, and prioritize market requirements
  • Develop plans using data to make recommendations that create advantage for Grainger strategy, roadmap, and requirements:
  • Sustain: Ensure execution of product lifecycle processes from concept to launch. Be authority and advocate for your given area of focus.
  • Adoption: Readiness planning starts when the project is conceived. Communicate and coordinate launch across all partners including business and engineering teams. Pre-coordinate with adopting teams. Establish, achieve (or update) readiness materials and FAQs to support launch.
  • Project management results: Track planned activities for each product release with consideration of schedule, risk management, escalation of issues and balances tradeoffs.
  • Communications: Both facilitate and develop content for meetings up to the VP level landing the appropriate message for the audience.
     


You Have:
 

  • BS/BA degree in computer science, engineering, science, math, design, or related field
  • 5-7+ years of experience as a product manager or related occupation. The five years of experience must involve: conducting strategic business and financial analysis, working with engineering, design, and project management counterparts to provide digital products or services
  • Ability to design complex solutions to create advantaged software
  • Ability to engage customers throughout the product lifecycle from user research to troubleshooting of product issues
  • Leadership mentality
  • Process design skills and operational orientation
  • Continuous improvement mindset that results in the understanding of the latest technologies and how they might apply within the organization, while driving creativity and thinking outside current boundaries
  • Experience navigating a matrixed organization
  • Experience using hard data to back up assumptions and develop project business cases
