Position Details:

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a passion for data science and machine learning but wants to put their experience to practical use in creating great SaaS-based customers experiences. You will be a senior product leader in the strategy, vision and execution of building our customer-facing analytics, reporting and insight capabilities. You will work with end customers, engineering, design, data scientists, data architects, machine learning specialists and operations teams to develop and launch our B2B customer-facing SaaS capabilities that provide applicable insights to our customers. You will report to the Group Product Manager.


You Will:

  • Conceptualize needs (expressed and unrealized) and delivering capabilities for providing our customers insights for all aspects of their MRO operations such as spend, supply chain and inventory, governance and compliance, and more.
  • Bring your SaaS experience to help guide personalized user experiences for helping us design systems that provide and use analytics to help our customers better understand and act for their MRO operations.
  • Lead the product lifecycle for capabilities from concept to launch, focusing on our external customer experience.
  • Manage the continued evolution and maintenance of parts of customer analytics capabilities.
  • Build a team of product managers and data, machine learning, and analytics specialists both reporting directly to you and in a matrix environment.

To achieve this, you will need to:

  • Identify partners and build relationships across the entire business both with leaders and your peers.
  • Assess the opportunities and pain points for both our customers and within Grainger's evolving systems landscape. Use digital solutions and data to recommend and create a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Lead portions of the Customer Analytics and Insight product roadmap and author detailed product requirements.
  • Guide the creation of SaaS-based customer analytics micro-services and reporting dashboards.
  • Conduct analysis to aid with product concept, strategy and content while applying lean product principles
  • Be the authority leader and advocate for driving machine learning inspired improvements to customer experiences and insights across Grainger's channels.
  • Achieve customer value in an iterative schedule of releases. Coordinate and communicate launch activities across all partners. Manage schedules, mitigate risks, escalate issues, and balance tradeoffs.
  • Work directly with customers to capture client feedback to inform and enhance our product backlog and build processes and automation to promote continued client feedback.
  • Incubate pilot products, including identifying & analyzing important metrics to uncover reasons for success, reasons for obstacles and achieve needed enhancement.
  • Conduct demos and develop supporting materials for partners. Organize and develop content for meetings up to the VP level with the appropriate message for each audience.


You Have:

  • 7+ years experience as a senior product manager or related occupation leading teams creating and conceptualizing iterative technology roadmaps, and working with engineering, data science, machine learning, design, and operational counterparts to create products using agile and lean methodologies.
  • Experience working on large-scale SaaS-based products for B2B customers.
  • Passion for working directly with customers and understanding their expressed needs to promote an impactful and fresh product roadmap.
  • The ability to turn quantitative analysis into relevant recommendations with measurable impact
  • Experience working with data science and machine learning techniques to provide visualizations, reports and insights to help business drive improvements
  • The ability to lead the conceptualization and delivery of scalable capabilities that service millions of customers with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience building positive working relationships with senior leadership and your peers
  • Experience conceptualizing, building, and transforming a large-scale information management system in an environment where there are multiple information sources.
  • BS/BA degree in business, computer science, data science, machine learning, engineering, or related field.
  • Project management skills
  • Comfort with talking strategy with executive leadership, technology with developers, user experience with designers
  • Ability to shape our strategy while having a focus on execution


Bonus Skills:

  • Experience in MRO or other B2B eCommerce areas
  • Experience with cross channel commerce
  • Experience with order to pay systems and associated data and analytics
  • Experience with supply chain and inventory management systems and associated data and analytics
