Position Details:

We are looking for product managers to help guide and chart a course for Grainger's enterprise systems and application development so that Grainger continues to be the destination for "the ones that get it done". You will contribute to the product strategy of future products, with high degree of ownership over essential features and the customer experience. You will work with engineering, design, and operations to develop and launch new aspects of a product. You will be work in a matrix organization, combining a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. You will be customer-focused and create successful products and services. You will and be part of a team that gets things done. You will oversee portions of a technical product.



You Will:

  • Develop Grainger's product search capability. This includes search on all applications.
  • Adopt holistic approach to search which can be applied across channels such as the website, printed catalogs and internal customer service applications.
  • Build a search capability to span across thousands of categories and millions of products with minimal response times.
  • Promote customer needs, conduct ongoing customer research, use internal expertise, and prioritize market requirements.
  • Retrieve and analyze search analytics to solve our problems with the search algorithm or the display heuristics.
  • Develop a search strategy using data to make recommendations that create advantage for Grainger.
  • Build relationships and identify partners across the organization.
  • Conceptualize our needs and build portions of the product roadmap and requirements.
  • Assess the needs, opportunities, and pain points for the platform within Grainger's evolving systems landscape. Contribute to the process for delivering and launching major product releases and incorporating enhancement requests to existing features. Translate customer needs into product requirements.
  • Ensure execution of product lifecycle processes from concept to launch. Be authority and advocate for your given area of focus.
  • Communicate and coordinate launch across all team members including business and engineering teams. Establish and provide (or update) readiness materials, FAQs to support launch.
  • Report on planned activities for each product release.
  • Facilitate and develop content for meetings up to the VP level landing the appropriate message for


You Have:

  • BS/BA degree in computer science, engineering, science, math or related field.
  • Experience conceptualizing and building a large-scale system for customer-facing channels.
  • Experience dealing with ambiguous problems, driving clarity and ensuring that the requirements which are met technically solve complex requirements and meet goals.
  • 5+ years experience as a product manager or a consultant in related occupation.
  • Experience must involve conducting strategic, technical analysis, retrieving and analyzing complex data sets as well as summarizing insights through modeling, data retrieval and SQL/SAS.
  • Experience working with engineering, design, and project management counterparts to provide digital products or services.
  • Experience managing products through entire life cycle of a digital product – from creation to launch.
