Position Details:

You will contribute to the product strategy, vision, and roadmap of future products, with high degree of ownership over essential features and the customer experience. You will work with engineering, design, and operations to develop and launch customer-focused digital product capabilities. You will be part of a team that gets things done. The Product Manager will manage portions of a digital product and report to the Sr. Product Manager - Product Information Management.

 

You Will:

Develop Grainger's Product Information Management (PIM) capabilities, specific to compliance information. Your goals will include:

  • Conceptualizing needs and delivering capabilities for a foundational enterprise system that reflects business operations. You'll lead the product lifecycle for capabilities from concept to launch.
  • Managing the continued evolution and maintenance of the PIM technology ecosystem.

To achieve this, you will need to:

  • Identify essential partners & build relationships across the organization both with leaders and your peers
  • Assess the opportunities and pain points within Grainger's evolving systems landscape. Use digital solutions and data to recommend and create a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Contribute to the PIM product roadmap and author detailed product requirements. Partner with User Experience and Engineering teams to refine high-level concepts into detailed requirements. Be the authority and advocate for your given area of focus.
  • Achieve customer value in an iterative schedule of releases. Coordinate and communicate launch activities across all partners. Manage schedules, mitigate risks, escalate issues, and balance tradeoffs.
  • Conduct demos and develop supporting materials for partners. Organize and develop content for meetings up to the VP level with the appropriate message for each audience.

 

You Have:

  • 7 or more years experience as a product manager or related occupation analyzing operational processes related to enterprise information flow, conceptualizing iterative technology roadmaps, and working with engineering, UX, and operational counterparts to create digital products or services in an Agile framework.
  • Willingness to design a PIM compliance information product from scratch and rely on third-party solutions only if they meet the needs of Grainger.
  • Experience managing a digital product and its capabilities through entire life cycle – from creation to launch.
  • Ability to design scalable capabilities with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Willingness to ask why and find root causes in order drive lasting change. Ability to use hard data to back up assumptions.
  • Experience building positive working relationships with peers. Willing to champion an environment of collaboration, transparency, and mentorship with operational partners & junior team members.
  • Experience conceptualizing, building, or substantially modifying a large-scale information management system in an environment where there are multiple information sources.
  • BS/BA degree in business, computer science, engineering, or related field.
