Position Details:

Do you enjoy conducting customer research to enhance data and find competitive insights? Would you welcome the challenge to democratize those insights by optimizing operational research processes? Grainger, a Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For, is looking for a Customer Information Researcher I to help us create new research processes to enhance and deepen our understanding of our customers. In this impactful role, you will work with Customer Information Researchers, Process Engineers, Technology Developers, and Business Leaders to eliminate process waste, improve activities, automate routine work, and scale research. By making actionable customer information available, you will directly contribute to helping Grainger market, sell, and deliver the best products and solutions to meet the needs of our more than 4.5 million customers worldwide.


You Will:

  • Build operational customer research processes to support business use cases around Grainger's sales and marketing strategies
  • Advance the development and continuous improvement of standardized research processes
  • Contribute to quantitative analysis (with support) and write SQL to enable/conduct exploratory data analysis
  • Present and share work with peers
  • Cultivate genuine curiosity and develop an understanding of the US Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) market – what customers exist in which industries, and how attractive they are to Grainger


You Have:

Education and Background

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Degree in STEM
  • About 1 year post-undergraduate experience


  • Statistics, basic data visualization and analysis skills: Excel/Tableau/PowerBI required, SQL and R/Python
  • Desire to develop additional technical and quantitative skills
  • Clear written and visual communication
  • Ability to conduct detailed online research
