Primary Function:

 

The Associate Supplier Manager will partner with multiple functions to support aligned product category(ies). They will deliver analytics and recommendations on initiatives to improve profitability and identify cost savings through effective negotiation and act as the primary relationship manager for select suppliers. The Associate Supplier Manager will lead various cost savings initiatives and support supplier relationships that drive incremental value to the business.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support Manager, Analytics and Operations/Director to meet cost inflation targets for aligned product categories
    • Participate in continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives
    • Maintain and measure previously implemented projects/processes
  • Develop, analyze, recommend, and lead implementation of product portfolio activities
    • Connect analytical insights to decisions and actions
    • Manage project to expectations and to delivery goals
    • Work closely with cross functional partners to ensure proper alignment in communicating with suppliers and other internal partners (pricing, Keepstock, inventory management, etc.)
    • Transition to standard reporting where applicable
  • Build cross-functional relationships targeting improved operational efficiencies and total company profitability (i.e., merchandising, transportation, inventory management, KeepStock etc.)
    • Work through challenging issues in a constructive manner
  • Manage supplier relationships for a portfolio including operational processes, cost negotiations, etc.

 

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • BS/BA or equivalent preferred
  • 3 to 5 years experience in related field preferred
  • Expertise in Access, Excel, BW, Tera Data, Business Objects and SAP
  • Demonstrated project management, financial analysis, and product costing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to find creative solutions to problems
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with business partners including team members in Merchandising and Supplier Management, Finance, Global Supply Chain and Legal
  • Self-directed, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills
  • Has proven relationship building skills and handles conflict gracefully
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively in various ways up to VP level of management (e.g., written, oral, and presentation)
  • Understanding of general business issues including external factors that impact the business, industry, product strategy, and pricing is needed
