Primary Function

This position is critical to the success of the Customer Insights & Experience Group and is in place to support the Customer Insights Team, and various Grainger businesses across the Enterprise.

This role will aid in the planning, development, analysis and presentation of research to Product Management, Sales & Services, Marketing & Strategy, and Support Services, including but not limited to Corporate Communications, etc.  Under direction of the Sr. Director Insights & Experience, this person will execute key research activities. 


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead “in house” quantitative and qualitative research studies, leveraging Survey Monkey, external panels and other available sources structure surveys, moderator interviews, etc.
  • Support Insights Director and Insights Managers with larger scale quantitative and qualitative external customer facing projects, typically led by more senior level team members, but depending on scope may be led and managed by Sr. Associate.
  • Work with Sr. Director and Insights Managers to identify appropriate methods to address key business questions.
  • Provide actionable and insightful summaries to business partners that go beyond reporting of findings to that of solving problems.
  • Partner collaboratively with others on the Insights & Experience Team.
  • Establishes solid and productive working relationships with individuals across the company at various levels of the organization.
  • Works with external parties including suppliers, agencies.
  • Monitors the activities of his/her projects, ensuring timely and actionable reporting of results.
  • Has accountability for and adherence to budget and meeting timelines.


Preferred Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Marketing Research, Marketing or Statistics; Master’s Degree in these fields a plus.
  • 5+ years of research or related consulting experience required, preferably on both the vendor and client side.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Has the ability to establish and sustain strong customer relationships and effectively balance customer needs with those of the business.
  • Possesses effective time management skills.
  • Has a proven track record of taking data to insight.
  • Possesses a command of sophisticated analytical techniques.
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills, including stand-up presentations.
  • Possesses a broad business perspective, preferably in a B2B environment.
  • Has cross-functional orientation and the ability to work successfully in a matrix organization.
  • Has experience in working as part of a team to achieve common goals.
