POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Software Engineer Principal acts as a domain expert and technical strategist. This role is responsible for solving the most complex engineering challenges, driving architectural decisions, and influencing technical direction across the organization. The Software Engineer Principal partners with cross-functional teams, mentors engineers at all levels, and ensures that technology solutions align with business strategy and long-term scalability.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Leads architecture and development of scalable, secure, and maintainable enterprise software systems.
- Defines and enforces engineering standards, best practices, and software development life cycle processes.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives and provides strategic input on system improvements.
- Ensures system security, performance, and compliance, including audits, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
- Drives innovation and technology adoption through research, prototyping, and hardware/software evaluations.
- Oversees database design and optimization, ensuring reliability and adherence to best practices.
- Mentors and guides software engineering team members, fostering technical growth and accurate development estimates.
- Maintains code quality and operational excellence through review, automated testing, and continuous integration.
