Position Description

The Senior Manager Quality Assurance (QA) is responsible for the software quality assurance operations, compliance, and quality control activities. This position is responsible for the strategic leadership and successful implementation, execution, and maintenance of quality systems in accordance with Zoro’s business strategy.

 

The primary focus of this position is to provide the Quality Assurance Team with expertise and thought leadership on design, development, and execution of Zoro technical solutions testing. 

 

Reporting directly to the IT Director he/she will play a pivotal role in the effective execution of software quality assurance efforts for all IT department technical development activities.
 

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and implementing quality assurance and test processes and coordinating projects for end-user applications, systems software and Internet-based platforms.
  • Manage deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
  • Communicate project status and escalate issues to direct manager, product owners, project managers, scrum masters, and internal and external development partners.
  • Support the team in developing the advancement of the automation program by assisting with strategy, tool selection, obtaining training time and/or funds and educating business on the benefits and ROI of the automation.
  • Integrate QA process with application monitoring to ensure continuous feedback of application quality under live usage
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce risk of all activities related to Zoro IT software products.
  • Ensure that testing, test case writing and bug tracking standards and procedures are documented and adhered to.
  • Assess each Zoro IT deliverable for possible risk and test needs and developing a strategy to apply for each deliverable driving and improving the release process to include automated builds, automated running of unit tests and regressions tests.
  • Work with QA team members to develop standards for strategy and approach of ongoing Zoro IT deliverables.
  • Manage relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs; ensure that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources.
  • Support architects, product owners, project managers and scrum masters in creating whatever product documentation is required for the business.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Project Managers, Scrum Masters, Developers and QA to drive the execution of projects, and ensure work is on-time and developed in-line with Zoro’s overall architectural vision.
  • Assist Product Owners and Project Managers in tracking and responding to relevant business questions and issues.
  • Lead manual and automation quality assurance engineers and provide testing assistance.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience working with remote, yet integrated, development and quality assurance resources.
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, goal-setting, correcting and reviewing staff.
  • Experience with manual and automated test strategies.
  • Budgeting and understand of how best to apply available resources.
  • Ability to promote the quality agenda firmly but with diplomacy and respect with technology as well as non-technical business partners and vendors.
  • Understanding of best practices for securing applications and application data.
  • Knowledge of and experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Up-to-date on current technologies including web and mobile development platforms (Android and iOS), multiple database platforms, virtual and cloud platforms, automation tools, web services, and configuration management.

 

Experience/Education

  • B.S. degree in a technical or engineering field, Computer Science/Computer Engineering preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of software quality assurance experience, including 2 years of people management or lead experience.
  • 5+ Years of Django and Python experience
  • 3+ years working in an agile development environment
  • 3+ years web application development experience
  • 3+ years cloud experience, AWS is preferred
