Position Details:

Grainger's inventory planning team manages over 10 million SKU's and $1 billion in inventory across 500 DC's and branches in North America. We're hiring a Senior Analyst, Inventory Optimization and Advanced Analytics to help us make better decisions across the supply chain. These analytics-based decisions decide where, when and how much inventory is placed to keep customers happy. You will report to the Sr Mgr, Inventory Optimization & Advanced Analytics.

Below are a few sample projects you could work on:

  • Build a model that predicts the impact promotions have on demand and recommend inventory purchase quantities to ensure we maintain high service levels throughout the promotion.
  • Forecast supplier purchase order lead times with prediction intervals
  • Create an optimization model that prioritizes what we buy from a supplier, while ensuring the total amount purchased fits within a truckload space constraint. The model should evaluate different quantities and combinations of items to maximize the orders that we can fulfill with the purchased inventory.

You Will:

  • Access data using Teradata, Snowflake, S3
  • Work with data using R, Python, Julia, or Gurobi
  • Deploy models and solutions using Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Apache Airflow
  • Continue to learn new tools to identify problems and implement solutions.

You Have:

  • Undergraduate degree or relevant experience
  • 3+ years experience in data science, industrial engineering, or operations research to help solve complex supply chain problems.
  • A passion for using languages to work with large-scale data (e.g. SQL, R, Python).
