Primary Function:



As a Security Infrastructure and Tool Administrator, you will manage the operational health of multiple security tools and infrastructures, determine maintenance requirements, work with vendors to ensure optimal operations, generate daily or routine maintenance and administrative procedures, and oversee activities of Tier 1 administrators executing those procedures.


The right candidate is an independent with excellent technical skills, a deep background in enterprise infrastructure and tool administration and operations. Candidate will be experienced with managing ongoing operations for key enterprise assets and ensuring they are operating according to best practices and in an optimal state.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities


  • Understand and maintain multiple infrastructures including tooling including Rapid7, McAfee DLP, McAfee FDE, Symantec Endpoint Protection, Palo Alto Firewalls, Crowdstrike, and is able to learn and integrate new technologies selected through the continuous technology lifecycle management at Grainger.
  • Work with product vendors on a regular basis to ensure proper function of installed infrastructures and tools, implementation of best practices, provide feedback to vendors.
  • Develop routine maintenance and administrative activities and document them in work instructions.
  • Work with tier 1 administrative support to provide guidance and training on execution of routine maintenance and administrative activities.
  • Monitor tier 1 administrative support to ensure that scheduled tasks and routine administrative activities are executed properly.
  • Assist the Cyber and Information Security teams to determine applicability of infrastructure and tool capabilities to incidents, problems and other technical and organizational challenges.
  • Work with security engineering and architecture to provide administrative and operational feedback in their design and product selection process to ensure that the operational needs are being met.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development to continue to develop expertise.

Cross-Train, and be an expert resource, on Security tool and infrastructure theory and approach




  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related degree, or equivalent job experience. 





• 2 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure and tool management and administration, implementation and troubleshooting across all computer platforms.

• 2 years of experience in Security technology implementation and troubleshooting across all computer platforms (Can count a bachelor’s degree in CS, or InfoSec as 1.5 years of experience)

• 5 or more years required of combined IT and security work experience with a broad exposure to infrastructure/network and multi-platform environments.

• Experience and hands-on working knowledge with a variety of security technologies and processes including but not limited to Firewall (such as Check Point, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Juniper), VPN, SEIM, IDS/IPS (such as SourceFire, HP TippingPoint), HIDS, malware analysis and protection, content filtering, logical access controls, data loss prevention (such as Symantec, RSA, McAfee), content filtering technologies, application firewalls (such as F5, Imperva), vulnerability scanners, forensics software, and security incident response.

• Understanding of Cloud solution best practices and integration techniques

• GIAC and ISC2 certifications such as CISSP are highly preferred.

• Good understanding of Risk and Compliance framework, regulatory compliance (Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and PCI-DSS)

• Solid understanding of standard business processes including Change Management, Problem Management, Work Prioritization, Quality Assurance, and Continuous Improvement best practices, etc.
