Primary Function

This is a highly visible, rotational corporate finance role with responsibility for supporting development and execution of the Company’s capital plans, driving cash generation across each of the Company’s businesses and optimizing the Company’s capital investment process to maximize ROI and drive value creation. 

 

In particular, the Manager, Global Capital Planning will work with key finance partners and business leadership to develop capital plans for each of the Company’s major businesses, identifying specific opportunities for incremental cash flow and driving cash generation. This position will support benchmarking and measurement of cash flow performance, as well as internal and external reporting around cash and capital efficiency.

 

Additionally, the Manager, Global Capital Planning will support a robust process to govern capital investment. Specifically, this position will work closely with key finance partners and business leaders to generate new economically attractive capital investment opportunities, assess proposed capital investment projects, monitor ongoing capital investment and assess capital investment returns. This position will support benchmarking and measurement of capital investment performance, as well as internal and external reporting around capital investment.

 

The role will have significant visibility amongst senior finance leadership and senior business leadership.

 

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute capital plans for all major businesses, including Cromwell, AGI, Fabory, the U.S. businesses and, in an advisory capacity, MonotaRO.
  • Work across finance and business leadership to develop opportunities for incremental cash generation for each business, develop appropriate working capital and cash conversion cycle metrics and drive cash flow performance.
  • Develop and lead a direct cash flow forecast for the Company, working closely with broader treasury and finance teams to ensure real-time visibility to cash flow and accountability for each category of cash receipt and disbursements. 
  • Develop and lead robust process to govern capital investment, including  assessing proposed projects, monitoring ongoing investment and assessing investment returns.
  • Work with finance and business partners to ensure that the Company has a pipeline of economically attractive capital investments, inventory investments, and investment-related operating expense that can compete for funding.

 

 

Preferred Education & Experience

  • 3 years+ of similar relevant experience required.
  • A post-graduate degree (MBA, accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, or statistics preferred) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Able to synthesize complex issues, form initial hypotheses, and identify the data required to confirm hypotheses.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic partnerships and work with others to accomplish objectives and results.
  • Ability to influence others and build a consensus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to work methodically and accurately.
  • Fluency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. 

 

 

Work Environment

  • Located in Lake Forest, Illinois.

  • Occasional travel will be required.

Impact

  • The Manager, Global Capital Planning will focus on maximizing ongoing cash generation, increasing the volume of economically-accretive capital investment and, as a result, meaningfully improving the Company’s return on invested capital (ROIC), all of which will directly drive shareholder value creation, a result of significant importance to senior-most leadership, the Board and the Company’s shareholders.   
  • This role will have responsibility for driving incremental improvement to ongoing annual cash flow that exceeds $1 billion, working closely with key finance and business partners to develop and execute on approaches to optimize $1.5 billion of accounts receivable, $1.5 billion of inventory and $700 million of trade payables.   
  • Additionally, this position will govern $250–400 million of capital investment, maximizing ROI on ongoing capital investment and partnering with business leadership to identify and prioritize additional economically-attractive investment opportunities.
