Position Description

Primary Function:

This positions primary responsibility is to maintain all plant utilities, equipment, and physical structures in a professional and safe manner insuring proper uninterrupted and optimum operation of all building systems and equipment.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on building equipment such as HVAC systems, electrical repairs, fire protection, building life safety, and building envelope, to maximize the useful life of facility assets.
  • Understand and operate the BAS.
  • Assist in recommending and developing preventive maintenance processes and procedures as appropriate.
  • Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to get work assignments. CMMS is also used as an asset management tool and to maintain inventory for all parts.
  • Able to work independently on projects and work assignments.
  • Oversee work of contractors and service providers.
  • Able to operate all material handling and mobile equipment.
  • Develop parts list for procuring material for work assignments.
  • Easily adjusts to changes in priorities and flexible to respond to on-call emergencies regardless of day or time.
  • Must be available for 24-hour on-call rotation.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements.
  • Keep supervisors and customers informed of progress on assignments and projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical degree highly preferred.
  • Flexibility to attend outside training.
  • Minimum of 3 years of building/equipment maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience maintaining rolling stock and conveyor systems.
  • Completion of technical training in electronic controls and PLC programming.
  • Certified to operate material handling and lift equipment.
  • Skilled at using electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools, calipers, gauges, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) drawings and schematics.
  • High level of knowledge and understanding of codes such as the NEC, BOCA and/or UBC, and OSHA.
  • Knowledge of Symbol RF technology.
  • Computer literate – specifically using the MS Office and Outlook products.
  • Knowledge and application of safe work practices.
  • Demonstrates problem resolution for complex problems and utilizes efficient work practices.
  • Cross-trains and provides guidance to less experienced employees.
  • Highly effective English communication skills that enables easy understanding of technical information being communicated.
  • Must be able to understand MSDS information.

Work Environment:

  • Little or no travel is involved.
  • Must be able to tolerate an environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust and work around moving equipment
  • Physical activity including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, lifting (up to 75 lbs.), and walking (up to 80% of day).
  • Ability to maneuver through storage racks, trailers, and other areas of the warehouse.
  • Requires ability to use office equipment including, but not limited to, phone, keyboard, monitor, and calculator.
  • Ability to work at heights and in unusual or uncomfortable positions.
  • Must be capable of operating equipment found in a DC and office environment.
