We’re looking for a Technical Product Support Specialist to act as a critical resource for our sales and customer service teams. In this role, you’ll identify product matches, recommend alternatives, and support internal teams with product application knowledge that helps our customers get the right solution, every time.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a mechanical or parts background who thrives in a detail-focused, customer-first environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Review and identify equivalent Imperial or Grainger products to match competitor or manufacturer part numbers
- Determine and document match types and appropriate part numbers
- Clearly communicate product differences and recommendations to the sales team
- Recommend available substitutes for out-of-stock products
- Answer internal questions related to product specifications and proper application
- Notify the Product Information Management team of any website or spec sheet errors
- Collaborate with category managers and project teams to recommend new or alternative product solutions
- Support interdepartmental projects that enhance customer experience and product accuracy
What You Bring to the Table
Minimum Requirements:
- Trade or vocational school completion, or equivalent work experience
- At least 1 year of experience in mechanics, parts management, or field service
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent
- 3 or more years in a technical support, mechanical, or parts-related role
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent decision-making and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Familiarity with the parts or industrial supply industry is a plus
Work Environment
- Primarily remote work setup with occasional work in a corporate office
- Standard vision, hearing, and speaking capabilities are required
