As an intern at Imperial, we’ll help you design an experience that meets your learning objectives while helping you explore how the areas of our business relate and interact. You’ll enjoy a variety of day-to-day work assignments, cross-functional meetings, exposure to executive leadership, and soft skill development.

 

Imperial Supplies is a growing distributor of fleet maintenance products. We’ve been based in Green Bay since 1958 and have a strong history of double-digit annual growth!

 

Internship details

  • Paid internship beginning in Summer 2021
  • Up to 240 hours (ie: 12 weeks @ 20 hours, 8 weeks @ 30 hours) Flexible based on student interest and availability
  • Willing to provide supporting documentation for students seeking school credit

 

Potential learning outcomes

  • Understand cross-functional responsibilities and partnerships between the Purchasing, Product Management, Global Sourcing, Transportation and the Distribution Center teams
  • Learn inventory management metrics such as fill rates, turn, cost variance and E&O inventory
  • Analyze inventory flow, demand, stock levels and locations to make smart purchasing decisions
  • Understand supplier cost increase impact on business and develop techniques to negotiate with suppliers
  • Full picture understanding of inbound domestic and global freight supply to distribution network
  • Small Package and LTL quoting and tracking capabilities

Potential day-to-day responsibilities

  • Analytics for Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Confirmation of Purchase Orders                      
  • Expediting Past Due Purchase Orders
  • Restock / Redistribution Processes
  • Recommend sell quantity adjustments of stocked DC items
  • Managing Daily Purchase Orders
  • Inventory analysis and pandemic reduction plan
  • Global Order Tracking
  • Dropship Freight Charges                                            
  • Freight Claims

Internship requirements

  • Active enrollment in a 2 or 4 year accredited college in a relevant course of study
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 based on a 4.0 scale
  • Ability to work remotely/high-speed internet
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, ability to work effectively and build relationships with others
  • Good organization and planning skills
  • Proficient in Excel
