Primarily responsible for the inventory levels at all Distribution Centers.  In conjunction with other department staff, this individual will be dedicated to improving inventory turns and regional unit fill rate by analyzing and positioning on-hand inventory where there is the greatest demand and physical storage capacities. Additionally, will act as a check-and-balance between Global Sourcing and Category Management to ensure stock levels meet or exceed all company performance objectives and  will work closely with Distribution and Global Sourcing to act as a bridge between the two groups and will facilitate action plans to improve the supply chain.  

 

The Inventory Control Planner will:

 

  1.  Manages all intercompany stock transfers to maintain or improve fill rates for each Distribution Center’s regional demand.  Also responsible for maximizing freight load on intercompany stock transfers, to ensure Distribution Center picking efficiency and minimizing internal freight expenses. 

 

  1. Works cross-functionally within Purchasing, Product Management, Distribution, Global Sourcing, and Pricing to review wasteful processes, explore process improvement opportunities, and execute continuous improvement plans to drive operational cost savings.

 

  1. Identifies and analyzes slow-moving and overstocked items and is responsible for creating a disposition plan to reduce the organization’s inventory liability.  Will execute the plan in conjunction with the Buyers, Category Managers, Marketing, and Sales to reduce or eliminate the excess and obsolete inventory financial provision.

 

  1. Analyzes the regional unit fill rates and makes necessary corrections to the purchasing logic, to include safety stock level adjustments, determining order cycle frequency, supplier lead time changes, as well as setting up additional Distribution Center bin locations, to ensure service improvement, while maintaining inventory turn targets.

 

  1. Is the key contact for our 3rd-party procurement platform solution provider and keeps them current on company growth initiatives, inventory forecasts, team objectives, and any other information necessary for maintaining high service levels to our customers.

 

  1. Develops forecasting to ensure that new product introductions and product promotions have adequate inventory in the proper locations to support Category Management’s product line expansion and product growth objectives.

 

  1. Leads  key inventory-related projects to include, procurement for Distribution Center start-ups, staging of reserve inventories, analysis for Distribution Center automation projects, and inventory conversion processing.  This may require limited travel to Distribution Centers as necessary. 

 

  1. Consults with Purchasing Management on inventory decisions and keeps them informed on all phases of inventory service levels, product positioning, and inventory costs.

 

  1. Provides monthly/quarterly/annual inventory forecasting and adjusts as necessary to the business needs of the company.

 

Minimum Requirements: Associate’s Degree with 2 – 4 years of previous inventory or procurement experience. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Intermediate skills in Excel. Ability to work under deadlines and ability to handle multiple priorities.  

 

Preferred Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business Operations with 5+ years of previous inventory management experience.
