The Global Sourcing Specialist will:

 

  • Research, identify and qualify potential foreign suppliers. Evaluate each supplier’s ability to meet Imperial’s product quality and service requirements.  Develop positive relationships with potential new suppliers and solidify the relationships with existing global suppliers. Meet directly with suppliers to negotiate the most favorable pricing and purchase terms for Imperial. 

 

  • Plan, schedule, create the travel team and execute sourcing trips. Travel overseas to evaluate new and existing foreign sources. 

 

  • Research and identify potential new products. Facilitate product specifications communications and standards, with assistance from the Product Manager and Quality Control staff, to the import supplier. Ensure product quality meets Imperial specifications while offering acceptable net cost savings. Negotiate product cost, terms and conditions of sale.  

 

  • Formulate and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQ’s) from potential foreign suppliers with input from the product group Buyer and Product Manager. Manage the sample process from prototype to production samples.

 

  • Coordinate the development of new product introductions, special promotions and product forecasts for imported products with Product Management and Purchasing staff. Ensure acceptable material flow from overseas suppliers through the Imperial distribution network to meet promotional deadlines.

 

  • Ensure all documents required for import purchase orders are complete and accurate as well as clearly understood by the overseas supplier. Ensure overseas suppliers comply with US Customs requirements and any other regulatory requirements.

 

  • Submit and support approval process to add new products via Grainger compliance team.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience and 1-3 years of purchasing or importing experience; 2+ years of global purchasing experience preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong math and Excell skills also required.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities, be comfortable with changing job focus and work in a fast paced environment.  
  • Ability to plan and execute extensive foreign travel and work with overseas vendors.
