The Global Compliance & Analytics Specialist will:


  • Work with Global Supply Chain Specialists to ensure that the tariff classification for US and Canada are accurate and up-to-date.  Complete the system request to add proper classifications or audit the product data needed to ensure compliance on new products.


  • Maintain Import / Export guides, procedures, metrics and documentation consistent with company SOP manuals and Grainger requirements for product classifications.


  • Support the IGS team and Grainger trade compliance staff with Imperial trade compliance activity (including audits of the Imperial system).  


  • Follow the Global Sourcing Process Guideline to audit customs entries and freight forwarder/customs broker invoicing as needed.


  • Perform ongoing investigations of Imperial’s current product line to identify cost savings opportunities.


  • Solicit and evaluate offers for targeted products from qualified foreign suppliers.  Develop, implement and maintain effective product sampling process from foreign suppliers.


  • Review sales data to identify trends and future Global Sourcing opportunities.  Quantify and share with IGS team for priority actions.


  • Assist with training of cross functional personnel on trade compliance processes and documentation required by U.S. and Canadian Customs.


  • Stay current with the Imperial offering to understand sourcing options, supply base, the Grainger Supply base, and changes that could present global sourcing opportunities.




  • Associate's Degree in Business or equivalent work experience and 2+ years of purchasing or import/export experience; Bachelor's Degree in Business and international trade and/or customs compliance experience preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.  Strong analytical, mathematical and spreadsheet skills and experience. 
  • Ability to work under deadlines, handle multiple priorities and work with individuals from other countries and cultures. Occasional domestic and international travel.
