Under general supervision, performs general accounting functions while adhering to both external and internal policies and procedures.  Responsible for provides support and reporting data to the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable areas of the finance team.

 

Accountant will:

 

1.   Verifies and approves employee expense reports and performs necessary follow-up when needed.  Assures compliance with Imperial’s travel and entertainment policies and procedures as well as maintaining spreadsheets on the data from the expense reports.

 

2.   Researches and reconciles daily cash posting discrepancies and provides details of findings to the AR team for next step processing. 

 

3.   Prepares assigned monthly sales tax returns in accordance with taxing authority’s requirements.  Prepares month end journal entries for sales tax (Sales Tax Rounding and Sales Tax Discounts).  Obtains new and updated sales tax exemption certificates, verifies the validity of sales tax exemption certificates and revises customer’s tax status on systems as appropriate. Answers questions from both internal and external questions regarding sales tax. 

 

4.   Verifies the accuracy of A/P batches entered by others.

 

5.   Assists posting cash receipts on large volume days.  

 

6.   Completes data entry of all month end journal entries into the General Ledger software.     

             

7.   Supports Accounts Payable function by producing and completing 1099 reports in accordance with IRS reporting requirements. 

 

8.   Assists in the preparation of monthly financial charts

 

9.   Reviews and finalizes entry of Inventory Balance agreements into systems.

 

10. Prepares month end bank reconciliation for General Checking Account and provides details to Grainger through Blackline system.

 

11. Reviews, records and reconciles the billings from export broker with Imperial shipping records.

 

 

Minimum Requirements: Associate Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience 0-2 years’ experience in accounting field.

 

Preferred Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience 2+ years’ experience in accounting field.
