TAX ANALYST

Primary Function:

The Tax Analyst assists in the preparation and filing of Grainger’s tax compliance (US International, State and Federal tax).  Also provides assistance in tax research, tax accounting, audit and tax projects as needed

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Tax compliance responsibilities include: 
  • US International Information Returns 5471, 8858, 8865, etc.
  • State and Local Income and Franchise Tax Returns and Annual Reports.
  • Federal Form 1120 and related US informational tax forms and/or elections as needed.

                       

  • Assist in gathering data and analysis of the quarterly and annual tax provision.
  • Assist in preparing and responding to tax examinations.
  • Calculate and prepare state tax estimated payments/extensions.
  • Monitor and analyze tax law changes and determining impact for Grainger.
  • Research and resolve tax assessments and notices.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
  • Assist with internal and external auditor requests.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of planning opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of compliance and tax provision processes.
  • Other projects as assigned.
  • Works closely with Tax Team, Finance and Accounting teams, and foreign sub controllers.
  • Assist in the coordination of Federal and State Income Tax compliance.

 

 

 

Preferred Education & Experience: 

  • Masters of Science in Taxation or equivalent education preferred.  A CPA designation a plus.
  • Position requires a minimum of 1-2 years of US tax experience which includes International, State and/or Federal.
  • Ability to manage a workload with sensitive due dates.
  • Must have strong accounting skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Excel, Word and tax research tools.
  • Previous experience with SAP and CorpTax is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
