Position Summary:

The Cash Applications Specialist will contribute to the Financial Services team by ensuring the timely and accurate posting of all cash receipts.  The Cash Applications Specialist will work closely with the Credit & Collections team to communicate and help resolve any discrepancies.
 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (You Will):

  • Process high volume of incoming customer payments (EFT/ACH/Wire, credit & debit card payments and cheques) and accurately apply to open invoices on customer accounts
  • Communicate and coordinate with Credit Collections Representatives and/or customers on short/overpaid invoices and payment issues (i.e., missing remittance, unearned discounts)
  • Process miscellaneous payments (i.e., rebates, management fees) and resolve unapplied cash in a timely manner
  • Assist ICSRs and Branch Managers with issues of deposits on orders
  • Prepare daily eDeposit and take deposits to bank as required
  • Prepare cash deposits from all branches
  • Facilitate customer EFT setup
  • Assist with posting and balancing front counter payments
  • Assist with processing credit card payments
  • Process journal entries as required
  • Daily reconciliation of cash/debit/credit payments – by branch location
  • Perform month end A/R procedures and assist with audit information requests
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and reports as required
  • Prepare monthly report of Intercompany sales, and required journal entry
  • Monthly analysis of inventory and record variances at year end
  • Monthly calculation of FX on AR, AP and GRNI and record required journal entry

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS (You Have):

  • 1-2 years related accounting experience, preferably in an Accounts Receivable environment
  • Organized and detail oriented, ability to multi-task and work within a high-volume environment
  • Ability to interact and problem solve effectively with customers and team members
  • Strong computer skills including Excel and ERP systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must act with intent to win as one team
  • Demonstrated focus on exceptional customer service
  • Post-secondary education in accounting/business would be considered an asset
