Position Summary: 

 

Reporting to the, Manager, Customer Service Center Training with a dotted line to the Senior Director, Customer Service the incumbent must have a strong understanding of adult learning principals, learning technologies and exceptional facilitation skills. 

The Learning and Development (L & D) Consultant will facilitate a full range of evolving and dynamic learning and performance solutions/programs, primarily supporting our Customer Experience functional group.  

The L&D Consultant will provide advice on learning strategies and solutions and work with Subject Matter Experts in various regional and corporate roles. The incumbent must be organized, resourceful, collaborative, and an excellent communicator. 

They must demonstrate the ability to manage and deliver multiple projects; work effectively with internal stakeholders across business lines and project plans. 

This role will build our Team Member’s knowledge and skills enabling them to further develop the skills needed to perform their jobs and deliver our Customer Promise; programs will range from Leadership, Service, Behavioral content and Technical training. 

The candidate for this role will have high energy, outstanding people skills and be able to deliver material effectively through both virtual learning environments and classroom sessions. 

They will also be able to work independently and have prior experience with content design and development for different learning audiences. 

This role will require 20-30% travel across Canada to facilitate programs across Grainger. 

 

Job Responsibilities (You Will): 

 

  • Responsible for the facilitation of end-to-end training/learning programs to existing and new team members. 

  • Provide ongoing targeted performance coaching during and post training periods with focus on enabling learners to achieve defined performance metrics. 

  • Work closely with Grainger and Subject Matter Experts to ensure appropriate training execution and leverage field subject matter experts. 

  • Content design and development for multiple programs through a variety of formal and informal learning channels. This includes instructor-led, web-based, virtual and other delivery approaches. 

  • Create a learning climate in which participants are engaged and eager to contribute. 

  • Develop learning reinforcement tools such as job aids and other learning tools, including quick reference guides. 

  • Work closely with cross-functional business units to plan and execute new training related tools and systems, and communicate changes to the organization. 

  • Evaluates user training performance and provides feedback and results to trainees and Managers. 

  • Maintaining a strong level of knowledge and understanding of the needs of the business (short and long-term objectives and goals) and aligning learning and performance solutions to meet/exceed these needs. 

  • Ensuring alignment to adult learning principles and best practices. 

  • Instruct, coach and/or peer mentor other L&D Consultants on skill development, program deliverables, assessments, use of tools, etc. 

 

Education/Experience (You Have): 

 

  • Must be fluent (written & verbal) in both English & French. 

  • 5+ years corporate facilitation experience in both classroom and virtual environments. 

  • Experienced in performance management: diagnosing performance gaps, creating performance improvement plans and coaching for improvement. 

  • Ability to establish, foster and maintain ongoing relationships with operational leadership which result in effective partnerships. 

  • Available to travel 40-50% across Canada. 

  • Ability to develop and deliver training material effectively. 

  • Proven ability to produce results in a fast paced environment. 

  • Exceptional time management and project management skills. 

  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.). 

  • High attention to detail and flawless execution. 

  • Exceptional communication skills - crisp and articulate verbal skills in addition to effective written communication required. 

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in adult learning or education is an asset and/ or a combination of education and experience will be considered.
