Position Summary:

The DC Inventory Control Specialist performs tasks associated with inventory management, customer service and TU (Transportation Unit) / ER (Expected Receipt) building. Effectively and efficiently uses established procedures, tools, equipment, and technologies to complete transactions related to inbound and outbound processes with a Grainger Distribution Center. This role is intended to build upon skills learned in other roles within the ICQA department.

 

Job Responsibilities (You Will):

  • Perform all Logistics functions, such as slotting and maintenance, on a daily basis to ensure optimal inventory management and space control in both bulk and bin areas. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
    • New Item Inspection
    • Exceptions
    • Replenishment Max Quantity and Multi Location maintenance
    • PO (Purchase Order) cut report & TU data
  • Perform all TU/ER building for inbound trailers with a high level of efficiency and accuracy, including but not limited to:
    • Daily yard and trailer priority reporting.
    • Closing out trailers and tracking detentions.
  • Meet or exceed daily productivity, quality and safety goals.
  • Willing and able to fill in for other positions both inside and outside of ICQA including Inbound Check in and put away and Outbound picking and packing depending on shift coverage needs.
  • Follow lock out and tag out procedures for powered industrial equipment.
  • Work collaboratively and assist other teams to meet safety, quality, productivity, behavior, attendance, and overtime requirements.

 

Education/Experience (You Have):

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in related field
  • SAP and EWM/MOVE experience preferred (or like systems)
  • Experience with industrial machines, like order picker, forklift, pallet jack, etc. and must be comfortable working at heights
  • Must display a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and good math skills passion for improving quality; Strong analytical skills are a must
  • Problem solving and LEAN thinking skills to allow for continuous improvement to the inventory maintenance needs of the DC
  • Advanced Excel and access skills required. Experience in building reporting and managing databases is a plus.
  • Must be able to tolerate heat, cold, noise, and dust in a warehouse environment and work around moving equipment
  • Ability to work in a position requiring continuous standing and walking, repetitive and continuous lifting up to 50lbs, occasional assisted lifting over 50lbs.
